Financial Aid Details
Every year CRYSC is committed to making soccer accessible for families across the Front Range. Below you will see the new process for applying for Financial Aid from the club directly as well as external scholarship opportunities. Once the deadline has passed for your particular age group/program, there will be no way to apply for Financial Aid, because this is an automatic system. All of CRYSC scholarships are need-based. There will be no Financial Aid provided for Summer Camps; discounts for these programs will be provided at the Camp Directors discretion. All Financial Aid communication should go to info@rapidsyouthsoccer.org
Anyone who joins the club mid-season and is interested in Financial Aid will need to reach out directly to the email above. We can’t guarantee that players who join mid-season will receive Financial Aid due to budget limitations. Financial aid funds are not guaranteed each season or year. Award amounts may change based on available resources and overall demand. Additionally, any player that receives aid and leaves the club before their season is over must pay back the scholarship amount they have received up to that point.

Financial Aid Process
Step One:
If you have not done so already, all interested applicants must first add their players in PlayMetrics. Click here to go to the Register Page and select your region.
Step Two:
Once your player has been added to your account, individuals are then able to apply for the scholarship. Families will not receive any information about their scholarship amount until after the scholarship closes.
Step Three:
In your PlayerMetrics account, click ‘Club Programs’ and select the ‘Financial Aid’ tab at the top. Click the blue ‘Request Financial Aid’ button, fill out the questions for your player and submit the form. The club will be notified once it has been submitted.
Step Four:
The club will notify you via PlayMetrics if your player has received financial aid for the season and apply the scholarship in PlayMetrics for you to register with the active scholarship.

Internal Scholarships

Club Scholarships
If you are interested in Financial Aid, the first step is to apply for a Club Scholarship. All players in need of additional financial support must first apply for a Club Scholarship, including all Recreational, Competitive, and National Platform players of all ages. Club Scholarships can only be used for registration fees within PlayMetrics.

Zarlengo Scholarships
The Zarlengo Endowment is specific to lowering barriers for the Latino community, providing access to top youth soccer programming. Players who qualify for the Zarlengo Scholarship will have to submit additional qualifying documents such as report cards and a letter of recommendation. All potential candidates must apply for Financial Aid via PlayMetrics to be considered for the Zarlengo Scholarship.

Dr. Bob Contigugila Scholarship
The Bob Contigugila Annual Scholarship was created in partnership with the Colorado Rapids MLS team in 2018. The financial aid award is named after Dr. Bob Contiguglia, who served as the president of US Soccer from 1998-2006 and is a member of the US Soccer Hall of Fame. The award recognizes two Elite players - one boy and one girl - helping offset the higher soccer costs such as travel. This scholarship award is by invitation only.
External Scholarships
Rapids Youth Soccer has partnered with a number of external scholarship organizations to assist with other fees associated with playing soccer, such as registration fees, uniform costs, travel, and more. Below is a list of other scholarship opportunities that families can apply for separately.

Chance Sports
Chance Sports is a scholarship organization that provides assistance to Colorado youth from families with financial need, to access elite sports programs and to learn leadership and team-building skills that will benefit them on and off the athletic field. Chance Sports is proud to partner with Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Clubs in support of their athletes.

Allen James Memorial Scholarship
In 2018, the Allan James Memorial Scholarship was announced, in which two scholarships are given to a female and male soccer player in memory of Allan James, with the inaugural recipients receiving the scholarship at the CSA Awards Banquet in January 2019. As a result of the success of the golf tournament, other fundraising and generous donations, beginning in 2023, 2 female and 2 male soccer players will receive scholarships.

Nick J LoRusso Memorial Scholarship
The Nick J. LoRusso “I Know a Guy” Memorial Scholarship Fund is a Colorado based, family run, nonprofit corporation which provides funding to Colorado soccer players of all ages and development. The fund was created in 2013 following the passing of Nick J. LoRusso, who was an avid supporter of Colorado soccer. The application process: ANY individual can apply on behalf of ANY player in need. Scholarship deadlines are February 15th and August 15th of each year. The award will be funded 30 days thereafter.

Sports Matter
As youth sports started back up after COVID, many kids may not return to play because of costs. The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation is proud to announce a $5,000,000 Sports Matter grant to Every Kid Sports, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, to provide income-restricted families financial assistance to cover registration fees and help ensure every kid has a chance to play.
Note: This scholarship is available exclusively for recreational players.
Fundraising
Facing increasing costs in youth soccer, individuals and teams are welcome to organize fundraisers as a means to offset expenses and provide financial relief to families. These fundraising initiatives not only offer a practical solution to rising costs but also present a valuable opportunity for team building and fostering a stronger sense of community among players and their families. Participation in fundraisers remains optional for all team members.
Team Treasurers must inform their Regional Manager if using the club's name or tax ID
The Rapids Youth logo cannot be printed on items for team fundraisers
Examples of team fundraisers include restaurant nights with companies such as Freddie's, bake sales, car washes, Hour-A-Thons, etc.
All funds raised must be managed through the team account
Funds must be allocated towards authorized CRYSC soccer costs (listed below)

At Rapids Youth, we provide a unique opportunity for members to offset program-related soccer expenses like travel, uniforms, and registration fees by working at one of two bingo halls. Our IRS nonprofit status allows us to host bingo sessions where Rapids Youth members and their families can contribute their time, with tax-free hourly payments directly benefiting their soccer expenses. It's important to remember that all bingo earnings can only be used for nonprofit-related expenses.
For over two decades, Bingo has been a cornerstone of fundraising at Rapids Youth, empowering families to provide enriching soccer experiences for their players. We host several bingo sessions each week where workers can earn between $50-$100 per hour, offering opportunities to work within each family’s schedule.
Bingo funds are applied in PlayMetrics on the 15th of each month (or the following Monday). The funds represent amounts earned for bingo session(s) worked in the previous month.
Significant Earnings: Rapids families have earned over $220,000.00 annually through the Bingo program.
Monthly Support: Families are earning as much as $2400 per month towards soccer expenses.
Family Involvement: Parents and family members (14+) can work together to earn for their players.
Simple Process: No extra paperwork is required for anyone working.
Advancement Potential: Opportunities to quickly move into higher-earning positions are available at both locations.
